From Sunshine to Sweatshirts

From Sunshine to Sweatshirts

As the leaves begin to turn and the air takes on a crisp edge, i cant help but smile at the change in season. Transitioning from summer to autumn with dogs feels a little like slowing down after a big, joyful party. The long hot days of chasing sprinklers and doggy ice-creams are giving way to cosy afternoons, golden walks and of course, snoozes in front of a roaring fire.

One of my favourite parts of autumn is seeing the pure delight on Digby's face when he dives nose first in to a pile of leaves. There's something about the crunch, the earthy smells, and the excuse to bound around that makes even the oldest pup feel like a puppy again. And for us humans? Cooler weather means longer, more comfortable walks - no need to worry about hot pavements on paws.

At the Deli, I love bringing in new seasonal treats too. Summer calls for cooling snacks, but autumn is all about cosy comfort. Think Pumpkin, apple and a sprinkle of cinnamon (dog-friendly, of course!). These seasonal flavours don't just smell amazing - they celebrate the harvest alongside our furry friends.

Of course, autumn also means shorter days, so its a great time to stock up on reflective gear for evening strolls and maybe even a snuggly sweater for those chilly mornings. Dogs might not care about fashion, but they appreciate the warmth - and lets be honest, we humans appreciate the cuteness.

As summer fades into autumn, I'm reminded that every season brings its own kind of joy when you share it with a dog. Whether its wagging tails on brisk morning walks, cosy cuddles after a rainy-day stroll, or the excitement of trying a new seasonal treat, these little moments are what make the transition so special.

So, here's to autumn adventures, crunchy leaves and pumpkin-flavoured everything - for us and for them.
